BRIDES WANNA KNOW :: Pretty Paper Touches

BRIDES WANNA KNOW...

True or false?Your wedding invitation sets the tone and feel for your upcoming event.

TRUE!!!

The wedding invite you chose plays a significant role in how your guests view your big day. Whether you want shabby chic or garden cool, why not let the paper and colors you pick play its given role throughout the reception, too! Details, details... let the fun begin and get ready to bask in the wedding day glory as you hear your guests comment on how you are "that bride who thought of everything." GAME ON!

TABLE NUMBERS

I don't know about you, but those not-so-pretty-black-and-white-total-hotel-looking table numbers have GOT TO GO. It completely takes away from your perfectly decorated tables. Colored linen - check! Square plates - check! Colored napkins to match linen - check! Amazing floral centerpiece - check! Scattered rose petals for dramatic effect - check! Ugly B&W table number? EW. These table numbers are available in an array of colors on hand at TWC for $16 for 10 cards. Tables 1-10. If you need to order more numbers or want a specific color, we can put in a request for you, too!

Of course your table would not be complete without matching place cards for your guests. Place cards are the best way to keep a party bumpin' - Kate Spade's rule of thumb - always sandwich your "talkers" amongst shy or not-so-talkative guests to keep the energy UP! Place cards are also available in sets of 10 in assorted colors with swarovski crystal for $8.

CUSTOM GUEST BOOK PAGES!

This is by far, the BEST invention for a registration table. These custom guest book pages are awesome because...
1. They are sold out of the guest book so you can lie them out on your table and have MULTIPLE LINES during registration. Quicker lines = happier guests!
2. These pages fit perfectly into this square scrapbook binder available online or at any scrapbook store.
3. YOU CAN MATCH YOUR WEDDING COLORS!!!
4. They are SOOOO CUTE and SOOOO much prettier than the old school guest books, right?
Custom guest book pages are $18.50 for an 8-page set (12 lines per page = 96 lines!).

All styles seen above are available for immediate purchase at TWC, but you can always custom order ANYTHING your paper heart desires. Give Emi Ink 4-6 weeks to have it ready!

BRIDES WANNA KNOW :: Embroidered Wedding Wear!

Jessica Simpson did start one major trend during her wedding - CUSTOMIZED HOODIES! Remember the famous photo of her oh-so-cute "Soon-to-be Mrs. Lachey" embroidered hoodie she wore as she got beautified for her big day? You must admit, brides (celebs or not!) go GA GA over custom products! Britney Spears rocked a custom MRS. FEDERLINE tank at her crazy bachelorette party while Kate Winslet sported a sweet MRS. MENDES bikini on her honeymoon. Soon-to-be hoodies, robes, towel sets, bathmats... you name it, they'll LOVE it! And now, TWC does CUSTOM EMBROIDERY!!! Come in for details.

CUSTOM TOWELS

This is such a CUTE and POPULAR idea for bridal showers and wedding gifts. It's simple to order and we can do it at THE WEDDING CAFE! Select the bride and grooms wedding colors (or any color you want really!) and figure out what you want to embroider on the towels. Popular ideas? MR. and MRS. names on the bath towels ($24 each) and first names on the hand towels ($14 each). Give us a week to have them embroidered please... then get ready to be the star gift-giver! Towels are included in the cost.

Hand towels are also cuuute with your intials... and yes, ROCK YOUR WEDDING COLORS gals!

SOON-TO-BE ROBES!

We had a TWC bridal shower for two of our belles, Kayla and Margaret and had robes embroidered for them to read "Soon-to-be Mrs. Asing" for Kayla and "Mike's BRIDE" for Margaret. SOOOO CUTE!!!

HOODIES - what! what?!

We had these hoodies custom embroidered for our TWC crew with the words "TWC weddings". Totally hip and FUN! Imagine getting your own hoodies embroidered with "BRIDESMAIDS" or "WEDDING CREW" on it. Total photo op!

And there you have it, a total celebrity-studded wedding item at your fingertips all available at The Wedding Cafe!

TUXES in HAWAII!

Although I'm a huge Hawaii wedding fan, there are a lot of couples who reside in Hawaii, but have their weddings in their mainland hometowns. Take for instance, one of my employees Margaret. She and her fiancé live in Pearl City, but will be getting married in her hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. They'll only be going home a week before their wedding day, so how in the world is her groom supposed to have enough time to get fit for his tux?

Most couples don't have the luxury to take off for a few weeks or a month to plan the final details in their destination location, which is why the internet has become the wedding planning tool of choice. But there are a few wedding chores that cannot be done via internet. One of those huge tasks is fitting your groom. Yup, he too, must look sharp and dapper for the wedding day. And sometimes, arriving a couple of days before the wedding doesn't leave enough time to get a proper tuxedo fitting.

So what are your options for tux fittings when you're miles and miles away?

We asked two of Hawaii's tuxedo pros, Phil's Tux and Black Tie Affair, for their insight on how grooms can get a tuxedo fitting - DW style! (Come on, DW = Destination Wedding!) Both of them are happy to help grooms out, no matter where they plan to say "I Do."

Phil's Tux will do a complimentary fitting and will give the groom the measurements to call into the mainland tuxedo vendor. And vice versa, grooms living on the mainland getting married in Hawaii can either call in their measurements or fill out a simple step by step online form on his website.

Black Tie Affair charges $5 for a very detailed fitting that the groom can also take with him to call into the mainland tuxedo vendor. Appointments are a must!

Before you send your groom to any tuxedo fitting, make sure he gets a list of required measurements and information needed to place the order from the exact tuxedo vendor you will be using for your wedding. Most vendors will provide you with an emailed form of requirements. Print it, and take it with you!

And of course, timing is everything for weddings so be sure to send your groom and his bridal party to get their measurements no later than 6 weeks prior to the big day. You AND your tuxedo vendor will appreciate checking that task off of your check list.

So mainland brides? You have nothing to fear. Tuxedo fittings in Hawaii are a snap.

Dining for a Good Cause!

Get ready for a weeklong dining experience that will not only taste good, but will DO good by supporting local restaurants and giving back to the community. The Hawaii Chapter of the National Association of Catering Executives (NACE) will be selling $10 tickets for a week long dining fundraiser appropriately titled “Tasty Travels.” Ticket holders receive 20% off at over 21 restaurants on Oahu from Sunday, May 24 through Saturday, May 30th 2009 with a portion of all ticket sales benefitting Hawaii Meals on Wheels.

Divas Doing Good is partnering with NACE to sell over 1000 Tasty Travel tickets in hopes of raising money and garnering awareness for Hawaii Meals on Wheels.

The 21 restaurants who will be honoring the 20% off with a Tasty Travels dining pass are The Willows, Tango Contemporary Café, Neptune’s Garden, Oceanarium, Hakone, Prince Court, The Pearl, Arancinos Di Mare, The Wedding Café, Red Ginger, Charthouse, Senor Frog’s, Twist at Hanohano Room, Rumfire, 3660 on the Rise, Lulu’s, Pinky’s, Tiki’s Bar and Grill, Sergio’s, California Beach Rock N’ Roll Sushi and Banana Leaf Italian Bistro.

Tasty Travels dining passes are $10 and can be purchased at The Wedding Café in Ward Warehouse or on line at http://www.nacehawaii.com/.

BRIDES WANNA KNOW :: Movie Posters by Love Story Weddings

Brides are ALWAYS asking me about those super duper cute MOVIE POSTERS done by Love Story Weddings. So we asked for the scoops, had our OWN movie poster done!, and wanna share all the celebrity stylin' haps with you... These movie posters are the TALK OF THE TOWN at weddings! Read on dear brides, READ ON!

STEP 1 :: Get an IDEA

Meet with the crew at Love Story Weddings to see their poster samples or do some research and find a movie poster that best represents you and your "CRAZY" wedding! Don't worry if you get stuck, the designers at Love Story Weddings can also meet with you as a couple and ask questions to get a feel of things you like to do together, how you met... leave it up to them, they're the pros!

STEP 2:: Set up the SHOOT

Make an appointment for your movie poster photoshoot. Since creating the movie poster takes time to make it absolutely PERFECT-O, schedule your shoot at LEAST a month before your wedding. And here's a tip... You can do this Movie Poster a la carte! Even if you already booked your wedding photog, you can still do a Movie Poster Engagement Session for only $495. AND this includes the photo shoot, hair and makeup, the design of the poster and a final 16x20 poster. WHOOT! That's CJ in the photo above... she does the hair and makeup to make you look like the celeb you really are! She dolled me up in about 45 minutes - SPEEDY!

STEP 3 :: Time to SHOOT!

After you get your hair and makeup done, it's time for your photo shoot on location or in the studio with a photographer from Love Story Weddings. (Don't forget to pick out an outfit that matches the poster! CJ can help...) That's us getting ready for our shoot at a secret movie poster location. :)

STEP 4 :: Design Time

Now your movie poster is in the hands of Love Story Weddings. They'll send you a proof to check out via email and then voila! Your movie poster is born! Here's ours we entitled MUST LOVE DOGS in honor of our puppy, CHLOE!STEP 5 :: FRAME IT! The final step is to frame your cool new poster for all to see. Locally, Pictures Plus can frame it (located right in Ward Warehouse, too!) or we found a custom framer online called Wholesale Poster Frames.
